SSC CGL 2026 Tier 1 Exam Date: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced the schedule for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Tier 1 examination 2026. According to the latest notification, the computer-based examination will be conducted from September 30 to October 30.

The SSC CGL recruitment examination is held for appointments to various Group B and Group C posts in central government ministries, departments and organisations. This year’s recruitment drive is expected to fill approximately 12,256 tentative vacancies.

Candidates who have registered for SSC CGL 2026 should now focus on their preparation and keep checking the official SSC website for further updates related to exam city information, admit cards and other instructions.

SSC CGL Tier 1 2026: Check Exam Pattern

The Tier 1 examination will be conducted in computer-based mode and will comprise 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions. The paper will carry a maximum of 200 marks.

The question paper will have four sections:

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning: 25 questions, 50 marks
  • General Awareness: 25 questions, 50 marks
  • Quantitative Aptitude: 25 questions, 50 marks
  • English Comprehension: 25 questions, 50 marks

Candidates will get 60 minutes to complete the examination. One of the key changes this year is the introduction of sectional timing. Each of the four sections will have a separate 15-minute window, meaning candidates will have to manage their time within the allotted period for each subject.

Candidates eligible for a scribe will receive additional time as prescribed under SSC rules.

SSC CGL 2026 Marking Scheme

Each correct answer in Tier 1 will carry two marks. However, candidates need to be careful while attempting questions as 0.50 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

The examination will therefore test not only candidates’ subject knowledge but also their ability to manage time and avoid unnecessary attempts, particularly under the new sectional timing arrangement.

SSC CGL 2026 Admit Card

The SSC CGL Tier 1 admit cards will be released separately for registered candidates. SSC is expected to provide further information regarding examination city, centre details and admit cards through its official portal.

Candidates should regularly check ssc.gov.in and rely on the Commission’s official notifications for the latest updates.

With the Tier 1 examination scheduled to begin on September 30, candidates have limited time to revise the syllabus, practise mock tests and adjust their preparation strategy to the revised sectional timing.
