UGC NET Aspirants Demand Release Of Answer Key, Say Delay Affecting Admissions

The prolonged wait for the UGC NET June 2026 provisional answer key has sparked concern among candidates and student organisations, with many claiming the delay is beginning to affect admissions to PhD programmes, Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) opportunities and academic recruitment across universities.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducted the UGC NET June 2026 examination between June 22 and June 30, has not yet announced the provisional answer key or response sheets. As a result, lakhs of candidates remain uncertain about their performance, making it difficult for them to plan the next stage of their academic careers.

Several student groups have urged the NTA to expedite the evaluation process, arguing that universities across the country have already begun or are preparing to begin PhD admission procedures. Without UGC NET results, many aspirants are unable to determine their eligibility for admissions or JRF positions, leading to anxiety and confusion.

Candidates have also taken to social media to express frustration over the lack of an official timeline for the release of the answer key. Many said the uncertainty is making it difficult to decide whether to wait for the results or apply to institutions that are proceeding with admissions independently. Some aspirants have appealed to the testing agency to provide regular updates instead of leaving students guessing about the schedule.

The provisional answer key is considered an important stage in the examination process as it allows candidates to compare their responses, estimate their scores and raise objections if they identify discrepancies. After reviewing the objections submitted by candidates, the NTA publishes the final answer key, based on which the results are declared.

While the NTA is expected to release the UGC NET June 2026 provisional answer key soon, it has not yet announced an official date. Candidates have been advised to regularly check the official UGC NET portal for updates regarding the answer key, objection window and final results.
