Jharkhand JPSC Row: Protest Continues After Second Round Of Talks Ends Without Agreement

The ongoing protest by Jharkhand aspirants is set to continue after the second round of discussions between student representatives and the state government failed to reach a consensus on Saturday. Despite fresh deliberations, no concrete agreement was reached on the protesters’ demands, prompting student groups to continue their agitation.

The demonstrations, led by the JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch, have gained momentum over allegations of paper leaks, irregularities in recruitment examinations and the need for greater transparency in the state’s recruitment process. Aspirants say the credibility of government recruitment has been severely impacted and have called for structural reforms to restore confidence.

Student Delegation Meets Government

Ahead of the talks, the protesters revised their delegation after the government objected to the inclusion of non-student members. Initially, the protesters had proposed an 11-member panel comprising eight student representatives, a legal expert and two journalists as mentors. Following the government’s objections, the delegation was reconstituted with only student representatives participating in the discussions.

During the second round of talks, an eight-member delegation representing the Devendra Nath Mahto-led faction also met the government. Officials held separate discussions with the student representatives in an effort to resolve the impasse, but no breakthrough was achieved.

Following the meeting, student leaders said they would continue their protest until the government formally accepts their demands instead of offering verbal assurances.

The protesting aspirants have placed several demands before the government, including a judicial probe into the alleged paper leaks, strict action against those responsible, comprehensive reforms in the recruitment system, stronger safeguards to prevent future examination irregularities and measures to restore public trust in JPSC and JSSC recruitment processes.

Student leaders have maintained that merely constituting committees or holding discussions will not be sufficient unless the government announces a time-bound action plan backed by official orders.
