Educational Testing Service (ETS), the organisation behind the globally recognised TOEFL and GRE examinations, has announced a strategic partnership with Crizac Limited to provide authorised TOEFL and GRE preparation resources to more than one lakh Indian students planning to study abroad.
The collaboration comes amid a steady rise in outbound student mobility, with more than 1.3 million Indians pursuing higher education overseas. As demand for international education spreads beyond major metropolitan cities, the partnership aims to improve access to official test preparation materials and admissions guidance for students across the country.
Through Crizac’s network of study abroad counsellors and recruitment partners, students will gain access to official TOEFL and GRE preparation resources designed to help them prepare for university admissions more effectively. The initiative combines ETS’ expertise in educational assessment with Crizac’s counselling ecosystem to support students throughout the application process.
Crizac currently works with more than 14,000 student recruitment partners across 85 countries, maintains relationships with over 500 universities in 14 countries, and supports around 4 lakh student applications every year. ETS said the partnership will enable these resources to reach at least 100,000 students annually.
The collaboration also reflects changing trends in India’s study abroad market, where students are increasingly exploring destinations beyond traditional countries and seeking reliable counselling and official preparation support, particularly in Tier II and Tier III cities.
The TOEFL iBT test is accepted by more than 13,000 institutions across over 160 countries, making it one of the most widely recognised English language proficiency tests for international admissions.
Commenting on the partnership, Karan Lalit, Executive Director, South Asia, TOEFL & GRE, ETS, said India remains one of the world’s fastest-growing study abroad markets, with students making increasingly informed decisions about overseas education.
“Through our partnership with Crizac, we are extending that commitment to more students across India by making authorised TOEFL and GRE preparation resources more accessible as they pursue their global education aspirations,” he said.
Dr Vikash Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Crizac Limited, said the partnership aims to improve access to trusted preparation resources while supporting students through scholarships and financial assistance.
“Nearly a lakh students stand to benefit, and for us, that’s a lakh stories of ambition we get to support,” he said.
As part of its expansion plans in India, ETS also announced that it intends to increase the number of authorised TOEFL and GRE test centres from more than 65 currently to 100 over the next year. The organisation also plans to strengthen its presence in eastern India by opening a fourth authorised test centre in Kolkata in collaboration with Crizac in 2027.
The initiative is expected to integrate official test preparation resources into students’ study abroad planning, enabling them to access authenticated learning materials alongside professional counselling while applying to universities worldwide.
